Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI FamilyLaw and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and familyservices, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is animportant exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).
To reach a goal of a healthy self, healthy dibenjikewin (family), and a healthy community. Our ancestors held everything sacred and thanked Kishe-Manido (Creator) for all that had been given, including the foundation to guide a strong community composed of healthy dibenjikewinan(families) who are raising awaashishag (children) and/or oshkaadizag (youth) grounded in their cultureand language.
The Dibenjikewin Oganawenjikeg (“DO”) Manager (Family Keeper Manager) is a managerial position responsible for overseeing the work of DO (Family Keeper) team and operations per the assigned location. This position provides direct supervision, guidance, and administrative management of the DO team, including the DO, DO Owiichiitaso (DO Helper), DO Respite Workers, Clerk, and Respite Workers, and management of the DO On-call schedule for supporting case management outside of regular office hours. Further, administrative duties and responsibilities of the DO Manager include budget development for operations, financial reporting, case file reporting, and human resources decision-making.
The MDK service model provides different services within 24/7 Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (Family Care) of KIDO that require the supervision and leadership of localized managers that work together with one another. The position of DO Manager is important because Kewiiwiijihiikoosiwaach (“people who will want help” – similar to a service population in mainstream) that contact or are brought to the attention of KIDO may require Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) services to address any prevention, protection and other supporting needs. The DO Manager will coordinate responses with their teams and ensure that they follow a holistic approach so all dibenjikewin (family) members can become misiwe minoyaawin – physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally healthy. Working with ESU and DO Kanawendaakosowinik (Place of Safety) teams, led by their managers, and the Minoyawiibimoojikewinan (Prevention) team is required to ensure a coordinated effort is taken to address all Kewiiwiijihiikoosiwaach needs. At times, communication with external service providers will be required.
This position reports to their assigned KIDO Assistant Director. The hours of work are from 9:00am to 5:00pm during regular KIDO office operating hours, but this is subject to adjusted schedules and/or occasional shift work due to operational needs.
