WHO WE ARE:

Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI FamilyLaw and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and familyservices, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is animportant exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).

Position Summary

As a partof the internal MDK case management database system team, the IT Technician:Office Support will report to the Case Management Database Manager and workwith other members on the team.

This positionwill assist the Case Management Database Manager in carrying out and ensuring stabilityand safeguarding the case management database system, which includes planning,developing, installing, configuring, supporting, and optimizing all MDK networkhardware, software and communication links.

The ITTechnician: Office Support will be responsible for issues arising on the MDKcase management database system, which includes network issues, devicehardware, computer software and other IT-related issues.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. To receive intensive training from the Mamow Special Projects     Coordinator on MDK Service Model to fully understand the scope of the     database and network system requirements.
  2. Ensure the Case Management Database Manager is informed on the     operations and issues arising in the case management database system and anything     else regarding MDK operations.
  3. To assist the Case Management Database Manager by preparing     documentation and/or attending meetings with the Office Manager and senior     management as required.
  4. To liaise with external IT supports in the setup and maintenance policies,     procedures and associated training in place for network resource     administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  5. To assist with the day-to-day operational management of MDK by     managing all assigned servers (email, printing, backups, software), manage     all network hardware & equipment (routers/switches/hubs), and ensure     network connectivity on all workstations.
  6. To monitor and ensure stable operations of the MDK case management     database system, including having appropriate security safeguards in     place.
  7. To work alongside the internal MDK case management database system     team.
  8. To provide network asset management, including maintenance of     database and network component inventory and related documentation and     technical specifications information as assigned.  
  9. To perform system backups and recovery on assigned network     computers and devices.
  10. To assist the Case Management Database Manager when liaising with     external database and IT supports on network improvements, database     changes and other adjustments should be made to reflect the needs of MDK     to carry out all aspects outlined in KIDO.
  11. To assist the Case Management Database Manager as needed to work     with the MDK Training Unit team and other program units informed on any     developments so their team, existing staff and incoming staff can be     trained.  
  12. To assist the Case Management Database Manager in monitoring and     testing database & network performance and provide network performance     statistics and reports.
  13. To keep informed by the Case Management Database Manager on updates     and/or provide feedback to the database development company regarding     issues related to IT operations within the MDK.
  14. To assign duties, explain work methods and procedures, and provide     guidance to support staff.
  15. To maintain confidentiality on all aspects to MDK operations.
  16. Other duties as assigned for being the IT Technician: Office     Support.
  17. To operate and monitor the MDK Service Desk Support, for which all     MDK staff can contact with regards to IT issues on the case management     database system. This process will include creating a ticket system,     making informed decisions based on policy/best practices, and contacting     the Case Management Database Manager when their specific knowledge is     required.

5.    Must have working knowledge of the whole scope ofKIDO.

6.    Ability to communicate/understand KI language, Anishininiimowin.

 

Knowledge,Experience & Personal Attributes:

1.    Possess formal education in Information Technology,Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or related ITexperience.

2.    Completed and/or working towards further systemcertifications such as A+, Network+, MCTIP, or CCNA; is an asset.  

3.    Should have 2-5 years of experience working in networkand database management.

4.    Must have a working knowledge of computer systems,security, network and systems administration, databases and data storagesystems, and phone systems.

5.    Must have a working knowledge of network & PCoperating systems and cloud-based applications.

6.    Must have knowledge on applicable data privacyprotocols, policies, and laws.

7.    Must possess excellent verbal and written communicationskills.

8.    Proven ability to collaborate effectively within amulti-disciplinary team.

9.    Demonstrated organizational, decision-making, criticalthinking, and trouble-shooting skills.

10.  Mustbe able to travel as required to carry duties and responsibilities. (KI,Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout, Winnipeg and possibly other regional communities)
