IT Training Support
WHO WE ARE:
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI FamilyLaw and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and familyservices, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is animportant exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).

Position Summary
The IT Training Support is a position within the KIDO Training Department. This position will require working closely with others on the Training Department team and will have a working relationship with others throughout KIDO, especially with the Database and IT Department. The vision, goal, principles and values of KIDO guide the work of all KIDO employees and is especially important for the Training Department team members, who each have a vital role in the development of training materials required for all employees. The IT Training Support position will assist the Trainers as noted in the duties and responsibilities below, as well as any specialized requests from the Training Department lead, the KIDO Training Coordinator. This includes being knowledgeable of IT requirements and issues of the Training Department, helping develop presentations, organizing IT information in the Training Department and developing/working with a database system, and creating reports/transcribing as necessary. This position will report to their assigned Trainer of the KIDO Training Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings with the Training Coordinator, Trainers and other IT Training Support team members to assist with module development and updating as the IT support familiar with digital platforms.
- Assist the Training Coordinator and Trainers in carrying out and ensuring the Training Unit network, software and hardware are working well.
- Identifying and trouble-shooting problems as they arise, too, and knowing which other supports to bring in to address any issues and how to appropriately escalate notices.
- Assist with presentations, and printing materials, sending emails and other assigned tasks.
- Keep track of the training requirements for KIDO employees with a database to identify employee compliance and other databases relevant to KIDO employment (i.e. CRCs)
- Creating reports from activities, can include transcribing interviews from Kichiihaak (Elders)
- Assist with training and updates on the MDK service model and the MDK quality standards.
- Maintaining excellent communication and listening skills.
- Review KIDO MDK database to verify accuracy and consistency of data on a regular basis and assist MDK Quality Assurance Manager on improvement recommendations.
- Participate in all required training related to this position within KIDO and determined by the KIDO Training Unit and Human Resources Department.
- To travel to attend events and programming as required.
- Hours of work will be during regular KIDO office hours but will require flexibility as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the assigned KIDO Trainer, at times, other Trainers, and the KIDO Training Coordinator as needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school is preferable, but relevant work experience will be considered.
- Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary program in IT or child welfare an asset.
- Experience in the field of child welfare is an asset.
- Technical computer and keyboarding skills to utilize Microsoft Office and other software used by KIDO to prepare reports and other documentation.
- Experience with digital platforms and developing information databases are an asset.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including in the KI Anishininiimowin language; with the ability to transcribe interviews/meetings between languages an asset.
- Good personal skills to develop strong working relationships with employees of KIDO.
- Working knowledge of KIDO and MDK Service Model.
- Preference given to those that have experience and understanding the history of KI, including the traditional culture and the impacts colonization has had on the community.
- Professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
- Ability to manage time of assigned duties and work flexible hours is essential.
- A valid driver’s license is an asset.
- A clean Criminal Record Checks, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.
- Based in Thunder Bay, ON, with occasional travel for Training Unit coverage to other KIDO office locations and other assigned places.
