Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI FamilyLaw and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and familyservices, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is animportant exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).
To reach a goal of a healthy self, healthy dibenjikewin (family), and a healthy community. Our ancestors held everything sacred and thanked Kishe-Manido (Creator) for all that had been given, including the foundation to guide a strong community composed of healthy dibenjikewinan(families) who are raising awaashishag (children) and/or oshkaadizag (youth) grounded in their cultureand language.
The Kanawendaakosowinik Onihtaawikihaawaso is a Casual, shift-work position that works in an assigned KIDO-operated Kanawendaakosowinik (Place of Safety) or other KIDO-approved location. The duties and responsibilities include providing the care and meeting the needs of awaashishag and oshkaadizag (children and youth) that stay at KIDO-operated Kanawendaakosowinik. Understanding the MDK services of KIDO is very important based on these duties and responsibilities, and successful candidates will receive training. The tasks assigned can include cooking meals, assisting with hygiene routines, helping with schoolwork, grocery-shopping, providing transportation, ensuring a safe environment, and other listed below.
This position will work their assigned 12-hour shifts that have an 8-week cycle and are subject to the KIDO Averaging Policy for modified schedules, along with other applicable KIDO policies. Flexible hours may be required at times to meet KIDO operational needs, especially during emergencies/crises.
The Kanawendaakosowinik Onihtaawikihaawaso reports to their Kanawendaakosowinik Niigaaniitamaakeg (Place of Safety Team Lead), and may receive direction from the department lead, the DO Onaakatawapajike Kanawendaakosowinik (DO Place of Safety Supervisor).
