Receptionist
WHO WE ARE:
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI FamilyLaw and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and familyservices, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is animportant exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miinaahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).

Our ancestors held everything sacred and thanked Kishe-Manido (Creator) for all that had been given, including the foundation to guide a strong community composed of healthy dibenjikewinan(families) who are raising awaashishag (children) and/or oshkaadizag (youth) grounded in their cultureand language.
Position Summary
The Receptionist – Casual is a casual position and that is a part of the office administration of KIDO. This position will be assigned a KIDO location(s) of KI, Sioux Lookout, and/or Thunder Bay to provide coverage for full-time positions during leaves of absences or vacancies. The Receptionist will be stationed at the front of a KIDO office location, greeting people as they come into the KIDO office, answering phone calls/taking initial intake information, and other duties and responsibilities assigned.
This position will reporting to their assigned Office Manager, and will be available to provide support to the KIDO Assistant Director assigned to their office when necessary in urgent situations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Must approach all their work based on love and compassion; and remain professional.
- Must be on time, maintain good attendance, and greet all people in a personable and professional manner.
- Responsible to open and close the KIDO office during regular office hours, and monitor the KIDO employee sign-in and sign-out sheet and board.
- Adhere to office procedures and maintain office related file management systems.
- Answer and relay phone calls that come into KIDO, which may be general office inquiries for KIDO employees OR a Danendamihiiwewiidamaakewin (reported concern).
- Provide administrative support to KIDO employees alongside KIDO Office Clerk(s) and the assigned Office Manager, including hard and electronic copies of documents efficiently.
- Assist KIDO employees with photocopying, typing, and mailing reports and filing.
- Ensure telephones, copier, fax, security, and other technology are functioning, with IT
- To monitor office supplies in the administration area and replenish as needed, this includes regularly used supplies such as paper and toner on photocopier machines.
- Complete reporting and office administration documentation at the end of the workday.
- Work as a team alongside other KIDO staff showing respect.
- Abide by all applicable KIDO policies and procedures and participate in required training.
- Other duties & responsibilities assigned by Office Manager (TB) and KIDO Asst. Dir. – Off-KI.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or a combination of education and work experience is preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in front-line non-profit office setting is preferred.
- Must be personable, professional, and reliable for attendance to work.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with being able to communicate in the KI Anishininiimowin language an asset.
- Must have good knowledge and expertise of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must be able to work in a team setting, problem solve, and to multi-task when required.
- Have an interest in learning new skills and upgrading educational level, for which on the job training will be provided, in order to contribute to development of KIDO operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of KI’s distinct culture, traditions, values and principles.
- Working knowledge of KIDO and MDK services, with training to be provided.
- Understand that KIDO is based on language and kayaash egwa mina ahchaako kikinohamaakewin (traditional and spiritual teachings) revitalization.
- Professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
- Ability to manage time of assigned duties and ability to work flexible hours on occasion.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, with a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.
- Ability to travel as required for KIDO operations and training, including across KIDO locations and other places assigned.
